Buying at the Source
Most jewelers buy gemstones through distributors and middlemen. Underwoods travels to buy directly from the source, which means better quality, better value, and a firsthand understanding of what we are offering our customers.
A member of the Underwood family personally hand-selects every gemstone we purchase, traveling directly to the world’s leading sources to find exceptional stones firsthand. From diamonds in India and Belgium, to rubies and sapphires in Thailand, to pearls in Japan, we go where the finest gems are cut and traded. Buying this way requires a level of gemological expertise that fewer than 5% of jewelers in the United States possess.
Every stone is verified in our Gem Lab
No matter where in the world we travel to buy precious gems, every stone must return to Fayetteville and pass through our Accredited Gem Lab verification process before it is offered for sale in our store. This has been an unwavering rule for over 40 years.
The lab tests for treatments, dyes, and other adulterations that are increasingly common in the gem trade. Our customers can buy with full confidence because we have already done the verification before the stone ever reaches the case.
