Colored side stones or halos can enhance the color and brilliance of your diamond. 2. Increase the carat size of your center stone when using colored gemstones, which are less expensive than diamonds. This can also allow you to increase the carat weight of any accenting diamonds. 3. We recommend only choosing a center stone with a Mohs hardness of 8 or above since you will be wearing it every day.
